Fourth of July in Glacier View

Fourth of July in Glacier View
If you’re looking for something to do with the family on July 4th, then take a look at the Glacier View Fourth of July Car Launch. Located each year at Glacier View River Retreat just off Mile 99 of the West Glenn Highway. This is an event that has something for everyone. With the main event: launching cars off a 300’ cliff, there’s plenty to enjoy. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, with discounted fees for Glacier View residents. Each year, a handful of different cars get launched off this towering cliff!
The Fourth of July car launch, first held in 2005, has grown year by year, with over 3,000 spectators in 2019. Food vendors are abundant each year, satisfying your comfort-food cravings and offering a variety of delicious options. Gates open at 10 a.m, and the cars fly promptly at 2 p.m. Getting there early, finding a good parking spot, and hopping on a zip-line at Glacier View Adventures gives you a great start to the day. Then, grab some food and enjoy the launch!
Simultaneously, zip-line tours run on the hour, all day during this event. Ride the fastest zip-line in Alaska, with a beautiful view of the Matanuska River and Glacier. This is where the cars will be launched from. Spots are limited, so arrive early on the fourth to find a good viewing spot.
