Directions and Driving Times

Directions to MICA Guides:

Google Maps is accurate with our physical locations, but driving times often do not account for road construction and other factors.

Do not rely on GPS to get to our location, many guests in the past have unfortunately missed their trips relying on this method.

Directions from Anchorage:

Take the Glenn Hwy (Route 1) NORTH out of the city towards Glennallen/Palmer.

At the Glenn Highway/Parks Highway junction (mile 35) take the PALMER exit on your right to stay on the Glenn Hwy heading towards

Palmer **You must exit the 4-Lane highway to stay on the Glenn Highway. – Do NOT go towards Wasilla.

Continue on the Glenn Hwy through Palmer (mile 42), Sutton (mile 62) and Chickaloon (Mile 76) then keep driving another 20+ miles

Follow our directions and look for the small green “Mileposts” on the side of the road. MICA Guides is at Milepost 102.5.

Driving Times to MICA Guides from:

Anchorage: 2 to 2 1/2 hours

Palmer: 1 1/2 hours

Wasilla: 1 1/2 to 2 hours

Talkeetna: 3 to 4 hours

Valdez: 4 to 4 1/2 hours

Glennallen: 2 hours

Denali: 6 – 8 hours (via Wasilla)

Seward: 5 – 6 hours

Fairbanks: 7 – 8 hours (via Tok and Glennallen)

**Driving times may vary greatly. The times listed are approximations. Summer is road construction season with projects changing often! Mid-day tours will often see more traffic than early tours. Plan plenty of time to enjoy the drive. We would much rather you show up early than late, tours usually can not wait for late arrivals. If you arrive early, you can enjoy an espresso or ice cream with a great view at MICA Mocha.

We are in Glacier View. Although correct in our physical location, many maps will display “Sutton-Alpine” or “Chickaloon” as our location city instead of our community of “Glacier View”. This is only because the closest US Post Office location is in Sutton, with a small outpost in Chickaloon.

If you are planning accommodation before or after your glacier adventure, please know that the town of Sutton is approximately 40 miles or about 1 hour south of our physical location.

Checking In for your Trip:

Please check in at the location of your first activity about 15 mins prior to the start time.

Glacier View Adventures – Zipline, ATV:

At Mile 99, look for our Howdy Hall Building on the right side of the road and a BIG zipline sign.

MICA Guides – Glacier and Helicopter Tours:

Continue past sign that says “Glacier Park Glacier Access” **DO NOT TURN HERE!**

Check in 1/2 mile further north at our location on the right hand side of the road. Look for a blue yurt and signs saying MICA Guides or our MICA

Mocha (Ford 1948) Espresso Truck. Check in here to start your day on an Ice Trek, Climb or Helicopter tour.
