We have offered guided adventures on the Matanuska Glacier since 1999!

Our professional glacier guides and dedicated helicopter team are out on the ice everyday. Even on their days off. They know the ins and outs of the glacier and where the rarest and most intricate ice features are, and want to share them with you.

MICA Guides offers the smallest group sizes on the Matanuska Glacier and do not exceed more than 8 people per Guide on our treks. Group trips are open to ages 10 and older. And don’t worry, if you’ve got a young one or a special request we have availability and accommodations to offer by booking a Private Trek.

Beginner or Advanced

Our signature Ice Fall Trek has been popular for over 25 years.  It’s a great way to hike the glacier, get some cool photos and learn about what you’re seeing.  We have the gear but more importantly, our Guides are out there every day so they know the best places to take you while managing the risks.

For the fit and adventurous, the Advanced Trek gets you to the “backcountry”.  This remote area of the glacier features deep holes, big walls and beautiful blue pools away from the other visitors at the front of the glacier.

Or you can skip the hike and take a helicopter!  MICA Guides is the top company offering helicopter access to the glacier.  Flying conserves your energy for exploring and gets you to the coolest features we can find.  And you fly in a helicopter!  Check out the Helicopter Explorer for this exciting option.

Join a group or go private

Our public group trips are a great way to make some new friends on your tour.  Our tours are usually 6-8 guests with one guide and we can take children as young as 10 years on the public trips.  Do you have a younger trekker that is feeling confident to explore or have a special request for your group?  The Private Trek is a great option for families with children as young as 6 years or for groups of up to 20.
