Our signature Ice Fall Trek exclusively for your group. Perfect for those who want to go at their own pace, families with mixed generations or with children as young as 6!
You are the Priority
Our top priorities are protecting the well-being of our guests and providing the best possible experience on the glacier. With a Private Trek, we can better manage the needs of your group. This may include the adjustments necessary with having a 6 year old on the trip without negatively affecting the experience of other guests.
A private trek for up to 6 guests is $575. (This rate is the same as a party of 6 with a group discount). If you have 7 or 8 people in your group we may be able to take those extra two people for an additional fee of $99/person. For more than 8 guests you will need two or more guides and will need to book multiple private treks. For example, if you book two private treks at $575/each you may have up to 12 guests.
The Private Trek Experience
Private Treks will usually start at our regular trip times of 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, or 3:30. They may be shorter than the normal 3 hours if desired, but there is no cost difference. The Private Trek is identical to the Ice Fall Trek and does not include any climbing or use of ropes in any way. If you are looking for a more advanced or more adventurous experience please consider our other options but we can not make the Private Trek any sort of “hybrid” activity.

Park Fees
The Glacier Park access fee is separate and collected on the day of your reservation. The current rate is $45 per person, but is subject to change and out of our control. You only pay for the amount of people in your party.
*Our Private Trek fee does not include the Glacier Park Access Fee, which must be paid upon Check In at the MICA Base. The current fee is $45 per person but is subject to change; we have no control over this access fee.*

- 4 hours in total with an average of 3 hours on the Matanuska Glacier
- Guide narration of exciting glacial features and stunning views from a high point in the ice fall
- Instruction on proper crampon walking techniques (crampons and helmets provided)

For Private Glacier Trekking we require you to have:
- A backpack with room for gear. If you don’t have one, we have some available for you to use!
- Long Pants
- Hiking boots that come over the ankle. If you don’t own a pair, we have some available for you to use!
Our recommendations on clothing and gear:
- Quick dry clothing (not cotton/jeans). Usually a good pair of hiking pants works great. Ski pants and jackets are not necessary
- Rain gear, even if it isn’t raining
- Liner gloves
- Tall synthetic or wool socks
- Extra warm layers
- Snacks and water or packed lunch
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Camera
