Which Trip is right for you and your group. For the adventurous, you can't beat our Ice Climbing trip. While a certain level of fitness and agility is needed, this sport relies as much on technique as strength. In fact, when we take couples climbing, by the end of the day the woman is the better climber...and the guy is tired from trying to do pull-ups all day! Our climbing trips are rigged as "top rope". This means that if you can't complete a climb, you won't be left behind as everyone returns to their starting point. For glacier trekking, the Ice Fall Trek is the most popular and best value. The longer duration enables us to get to some of the most amazing features on the glacier. If you're able to be on your feet and walking at a moderate pace for 3 hours or so, this is the trip for you. Our Glacier Hike may be appropriate for smaller children or those that are not up for spending 3 hours on the ice. All trekking and climbing trips travel on uneven ice and rock terrain with moderate ups and downs. We take a lot of breaks for photos and learning about the glacier. We cannot take infants in arms, backpacks or any other devices on any of our trips. Please call us in advance if pregnant. |
Rates & Reservations The Glacier is accessed only through a private park. Your entry fee to the park is not included in our trip rates. No National or State Park passes are valid for entry. Entry charge is per person and rates are subject to change at any time. The current Adult rate is $20 and there are discount rates for Alaska Residents, Military, Teenagers and children. Cancellation Policy We ask for at least 48 hours notice for cancellations otherwise a cancellation fee of 50% may be charged. No-shows will be charged full price for the trip. Late arrivals will be considered a No-Show. Ask about our special rates for families of 4 or more (with children). Your Responsibilities
on the Ice Only parents or legal guardians may sign for minors. You may preview this document by clicking HERE.

How to fit a glacier trip into your vacation We're located at Mile 102.5 on the Scenic Glenn Highway. Approximately 2 hours from Anchorage. See the map below for driving distances as you plan your vacation. Check in for our trips is 30 minutes before the departure time, 40 minutes for ice climbing. We cannot wait for late arrivals. Plan to spend a day or two in this spectacular part of Alaska and enjoy glacier activities, white water rafting, hiking, backpacking, berry picking and more. We recommend the following for dining and accommodation: Tundra Rose has self-contained guest cottages and an adjoining restaurant and RV park at Grandview. Sheep
Mountain Lodge offers private guest cabins and adjoining restaurant. Stay in a hand-crafted log lodge at Majestic Valley Wilderness Lodge, just 12 miles from the glacier. Homestead Guest Cabins is a quiet, cozy retreat just a few miles down the road. Enjoy a meal with a great view of the glacier at Long Rifle Lodge, located next to MICA Guides on the highway. Nestled between the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains in Check out Matanuska Lodge for B&B accommodation close to our Base. |
The Day of your glacier adventure Use the map below for directions & estimated driving times. Driving time may vary greatly due to construction, slow moving traffic or whatever. The Glenn Highway is a National Scenic By-way; plan to take your time and enjoy the drive! Please arrive on time and ready to go. We usually cannot wait for late arrivals and you may be charged as a "no show" if you do not make it for your trip on time. What to Bring: About Boots: For ice climbing trips, mountaineering boots are provided. We have sizes from Mens's 4 to 14, please advise us in advance if you need a size at the large or small end of this range. If you enjoy your trip, your charming, knowledgable,
friendly, professional Guide would appreciate a gratuity. |
Important Note: Trip duration times are approximate and do not include transportation time from our Base to and from the glacier. Management of the risks associated with travel on a glacier is our primary concern. Routes and trip duration may vary at any time due to current conditions, weather, or the physical capabilities of the group. |
