Meet Ice Climbing Guide Brett
With infectious energy and a quick witted sense of humor, Brett never struggles to find adventure. Whether it be ice climbing, skiing, or multi-pitch rock climbing, he is always searching for creative and courageous routes through the mountains.
Born in the flat corn fields of Central Illinois, his excitement for traveling to new places eventually brought him to Alaska. This will be his 4th season with MICA, as MICA’s Senior Glacier Guide. He is always excited to provide guests with opportunities to learn something new and to help them achieve something they thought they could never do. With a Wilderness First Responder certification and AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, Brett is prepared for whatever the great outdoors throw at him.
When he’s not in Alaska, Brett enjoys rock climbing, backcountry skiing, traveling to remote regions of the world, and training Nelly (his adventure cat) to do new tricks. He has guided on the Fox glacier in New Zealand, guided rock climbing in Colorado, climbed in Mexico, and backcountry skied all over the Western US, British Columbia, and Japan. His future goals include establishing new climbing routes in remote areas of Laos and checking out The Cirque of the Unclimbables in the Canadian Yukon. You can usually find him with a burrito in hand.
