Dude Perfect tries Ice Climbing

YouTube team Dude Perfect came out to try out Ice Climbing and our Overnight Glacier Adventure We were excited all summer for the Dude Perfect crew to come out and test the ropes on Matanuska Glacier.  Their team was first dropped off by Helicopter, flown by Mark at Sheep Mountain Lodge, and received by Brett and Warren.  As two of our most experienced guides, Brett and Warren took the crew out on an adventure they won't soon forget. There is also a behind-the-scenes video that lets us take a closer look at the Overnight Glacier Adventure.

Located each year at Glacier View River Retreat just off Mile 99 of the West Glenn Highway. This is an event that has something for everyone. Matanuska Glacier Over Time

Continuous Movement and Changes of a Glacier Possibly, about 22,000 years ago, the Matanuska Glacier reached its peak in size. The terminus once reached the north end of Anchorage. The Knik Glacier met the Matanuska and formed a lobe-like shape during this period. Geological evidence indicates that these two glaciers retreated in two separate phases. Glacial ablation may have occurred through stagnation of the Matanuska. In other words, the glacier was melting faster than it could form. After the second, faster melt phase, about 13,700 years ago, the glacier retreated. Down wasting is the thinning of glacier ice due to melt, similar to the size it is today. Once these two segments began, the world’s glacial systems went into dramatic retreat. Since that last period, the Matanuska Glacier has not changed as dramatically.
